David Stuart Roberts (May 29, 1943 – August 20, 2021) was an American climber, mountaineer, college professor, and author of books and articles about climbing and the history of the American Southwest.
The Mountaineer converted to offset printing in the 1960s when they purchased a Goss press and installed it in the basement. In 1979, the Mountaineer was sold to the Daniels family, owners of the News and Observer in Raleigh. Jack Andrews was named publisher.
