March 28, 1994. Fairmont Normal School Administration Building is a historic school building located on the campus of Fairmont State University at Fairmont, Marion County, West Virginia. It was built between 1915 and 1917, and is a large three-story Classical Revival style building sited atop a hill overlooking Locust Avenue.
The Loop bus used to provide service hourly out Locust, Country Club and Fairmont Avenue alternating the direction of travel on even hours via Fairmont Avenue and on odd hours via Locust Avenue. This service was established in the mid-1980s and operated the highest frequency at the time of any route every hour with 8 trips on Saturday.
History. Fairmont State University’s roots reach back to the formation of public education in the state of West Virginia. The first private normal school in West Virginia was established to train teachers in Fairmont in 1865 by John N. Boyd, the school’s first principal. It was known as the West Virginia Normal School at Fairmont.

The original building is Colonial Revival in style with Jacobethan style detailing in the entrance surrounds. The architect was Frank L. Packard.
