Steilacoom (/ ˈ s t ɪ l ə k əm / STIL-ə-kəm) is a town in Pierce County, Washington, United States.The population was 6,727 at the 2020 census. [2] Steilacoom incorporated in 1854 and became the first incorporated town in what is now the state of Washington.
It is one of the two main campuses belonging to the college, the other being Pierce College Fort Steilacoom in Lakewood. The city is served by the Puyallup Public Library , which was established in 1913 and has been housed in its current building in Pioneer Park since 2002.

The college was created by the Clover Park School District in 1942 as a vocational school to train 3,500 civilians as auto mechanics for the nearby McChord Field and Fort Lewis Army Post, and shipfitters, welders and blueprint readers for Tacoma shipyards.
