Wikipedia is written almost exclusively by volunteers — people from across the world, just like you. This means that sometimes it contains incorrect information, either accidentally or deliberately. I sincerely doubt that 12,500 people a day proceed to actually contact Wikipedia. Apparently someone will click on the link "Contact us" every few seconds, probably because the link is on the left-hand list, at least on Monobook, and for some reason they want to take a look at what that means.
