W.T. Woodson High School. Wilbert Tucker Woodson High School, commonly known as W.T. Woodson High School or simply Woodson, (in the process of renaming to Carter G. Woodson High School[3]) is a high school located in Fairfax County, Virginia, just outside the east end of the city of Fairfax limits, opposite the shopping center on Main Street.
The school system has expanded to include over 196 schools and centers, including 22 high schools, three secondary schools, 23 middle schools, and 141 elementary schools. Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) also operates a fleet of over 1520 school buses, which transport 110,000 students daily.
History. South Lakes High School opened in 1978 with grades 7-10. Students in the first 10th-grade class had attended either Herndon or Oakton High Schools for grade 9. In the 1979-80 school year, the school had grades 7-11. [2] Langston Hughes Intermediate School was supposed to open in the fall of 1980, but there were construction delays.
