The school opened in August 1997 across Duncanville Road from Mountain View College, a community college operated by the Dallas County Community College District.. The school is named for Moisés E. In the decade after the City of Dallas annexed the Town of Oak Cliff and merged school districts, the Dallas ISD built Oak Cliff High School to relieve crowding at Dallas High School, built just 8 years prior. [9] Adamson was named principal of the new school. He served as principal until 1934 and died a year later on 26 May 1935 at age 71.
L.G. Pinkston High School enrolls students in grades 7-12 and is a part of the Dallas Independent School District (DISD). The school is named in honor of Dr. Lee Gresham Pinkston, an African American doctor who opened what was then Dallas's sole clinic for African-Americans, Pinkston Clinic Hospital, in 1927.
