Origins. The University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (Urdu: جامعہ زرعیہ فيصل آباد), (formerly: Punjab Agricultural College and Research Institute), is a university in the city of Faisalabad, Punjab, Pakistan. It was established in 1906 [1][6] as the first major institution of higher agricultural education in the undivided Punjab.

The university began as an intermediate college in 1934. It was promoted to a degree college in 1944. Postgraduate disciplines were introduced in 1985. It was granted the status of a university on 3 January 2013. The university is situated near Jaranwala Road, not far from the historical Ghanta Ghar clock tower of Faisalabad.
The educational institution was established as a primary school in 1897 in the present building of Government College for Women, Karkhana Bazar, Faisalabad. It was promoted to high school and intermediate college in 1905 and 1924, respectively. In 1933, it was elevated to the degree level and postgraduate disciplines were introduced in 1963. [2]

The idea of establishing a Textile Institute of world fame was conceived by a group of visionary industrialists in 1954. To realise this idea the Government of Punjab joined hands with the leading textile industrialists to form an Institute of Textile Technology in Faisalabad (then Lyallpur) and provided sixty-two acres of state owned land free of cost.
