Choccolocco is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Calhoun County, Alabama, United States. As of the 2010 census, its population was 2,804. [4] It was founded in 1832. The name Choccolocco is an anglicization of the Creek words "chahko lago" ("big shoals") or "choko rakko" ("big house"); sources vary.
Major bodies of water include Oxford Lake, Choccolocco Park Lake, Lake Hillabee, Snow Creek, and the Choccolocco Creek that bisects the city. Oxford is located mainly in the southern part of Calhoun County and is located along Interstate 20 , which runs through the southern part of the city, with access from exits 179, 185, 188, and 191.
