It gained university status and awarded its first baccalaureate degrees in 1967 and graduate degrees in 1969, the same year it took on its current name. This OAG lists TI DC-9 service to San Angelo from Austin, Laredo, McAllen and San Antonio in Texas and from Abilene, Dallas/Fort Worth and Houston.
