Bolton High school won the Blue Ribbon award for public schools in 2017. Bolton High is currently ranked as the 33rd best public high school in Connecticut. [ 2 ] In 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2018, and 2019 they were the state Class S champions in Cross Country.
The school was founded in 1855 by Canon James Slade as Bolton Church Institute, aimed at educating the poorer children of Bolton. [2] The Church Institute was on Institute Street. Offices and the Society of Friends Meeting House occupy the original site next to St Peter's Church. The school moved to its current site on Bradshaw Brow in 1956.
History. Thornleigh College was originally a boys school founded in 1925 by the Salesians of Don Bosco at the request of the Clergy of Bolton. The school uniform (blazer) was brown with the school badge picked out in yellow on the breast pocket. It became a direct grant grammar school catering for a wide area in Lancashire.
