After his team Al Nasr Pro Cycling Team–Dubai disbanded at the end of the 2016 season, he joined the UAE Abu Dhabi team for 2017, becoming the first Emirati to ride for a UCI WorldTeam. His older brother, Badr, also competed as a professional road cyclist.
