North Carolina. (2020) Cabarrus County (/ kəˈbɛərəs / kuh-BAIR-us) [ 1 ][ 2 ] is a county located in the south-central part of the U.S. state of North Carolina. As of the 2020 census, the population was 225,804, making it the 9th-most populous county in North Carolina. [ 3 ] The county seat is Concord, [ 4 ] which was incorporated in 1803.
The school has sports teams in football, basketball, baseball, golf, cross country, track and field, tennis, swimming, volleyball, softball, wrestling, and soccer. On August 14, 2023, the Cabarrus County Board of Education voted to name Tiger Stadium for Mike Johns, who retired after 23 years as football coach.
Cabarrus schools superintendent Harold Winkler's name was also considered by the board, but Winkler himself asked that it be removed from consideration. [ 2 ] Cox Mill opened with 9th through 11th grades on August 25, 2009, and graduated its first senior class on June 11, 2011.
