Two years later in October 2022, Ilya Naishuller was hired to direct the film. In April 2023, Priyanka Chopra Jonas joined the cast. Paddy Considine, Stephen Root, Carla Gugino, Jack Quaid, Sarah Niles and Richard Coyle would be added to the cast the following month. Filming began in London in May 2023.
The film was based on the Warren Beatty film, Heaven Can Wait (1978). That same year Rock also produced and starred in the C.K. directed film Pootie Tang (2001). It it funny how the character in the movie is "half-white" per the Ebony magazine cover and some other coincidental similarities.
