For what it's worth (I know personal account can't go in article) yahoo groups is essentially over as far as I can work out. Of the ~85 groups that I was a member of before 'neo', only 1 remains in existence....as a redirect to a tumblr, the person running it having abandoned yahoo groups' unusability.
