In 1970 it came under control of the Colorado Fish and Wildlife Resources Development Services, but continued in use as a community center. [2] It is located by the Green River on State Highway 318. During the 1810s, the school entered a low period as there were suspicions that the funds endowed by Johnstone's estate were misused. Skull Creek is an unincorporated community in Moffat County, in the U.S. state of Colorado. History. Skull Creek was founded sometime between 1910 and 1954. The settlement was named after a nearby creek, which is also named Skull Creek. A dinosaur fossil, nicknamed "Zephyr", was discovered by construction workers nearby in 2019.
