The former right of way from Cedartown to Maxwellborn has been redeveloped into a rail trail. It is now part of the Silver Comet Trail in Georgia as well as the Chief Ladiga Trail in Alabama. The remaining line from Wellington to Birmingham was leased by CSX to the Alabama and Tennessee River Railway , a short line operated by OmniTRAX in 2004.
