Catholic Extension (also known as the Catholic Church Extension Society) is a national fundraising 501 (c) (3) organization which supports and strengthens poor mission dioceses across the United States. They provide funding and resources to dioceses and parishes through programs and services investing in people, infrastructure and ministries.
The Portland First Congregational Church is a historic church located at 421 E. Bridge Street in Portland, Michigan. The original Greek Revival style church was built in 1853 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. [1] In 2015, the church was demolished by a tornado; it was rebuilt in 2016 in a style true to the original.

During the 1970s the Michigan Conference joined with the United Church of Christ nationally to participate in the 17/76 Achievement Fund. The goal was to raise 17 million dollars by 1976 to aid six historic AMA Negro Colleges in the South. The UCC pledged $470,985 to the cause.
