The Milton Area School District is a small, rural public school district headquartered in Milton, Pennsylvania. The district is located in Northumberland and Union counties. Milton Area School District encompasses approximately 85 square miles (220 km 2 ). According to 2000 federal census data, it served a resident population of 15,510.
The district currently administers 15 elementary schools, seven middle schools, six high schools, and two K-8 schools, as well as a number of specialized centers. Its headquarters are in Milton. The district is currently administered by a superintendent and a five-member school board. The current Superintendent of Schools is Dr. Karen Barber.
History. Milton High School opened in 1921 in Alpharetta, Georgia, providing grades one to eleven for all of Milton County. In the 1950s, an elementary school was built, with Milton High School then providing only grades eight through twelve. In the 1980s, the school became Fulton County's first comprehensive high school.
It is the only high school in the Milton-Union Exempted Village Schools district. The school's mascot is a bulldog.
