The Sims-Garfield Ranch is a site on the National Register of Historic Places located near Ryegate, Montana. It was added to the Register on August 27, 1980. [1] The listing included six contributing buildings : An original log cabin built by John T. Sally, perhaps as early as 1855. A six-room log house built by Joseph Sims in c. 1878.

The Elkhorn Ranch was established by Theodore Roosevelt on the banks of the Little Missouri River 35 miles north of Medora, North Dakota in the summer of 1884. Roosevelt hired Bill Sewall [1] and Wilmot Dow, two Maine woodsmen, to run the ranch. Sewall and Dow built the ranch house, "a long, low house of logs," in the winter of 1884–1885.

Robert A. Kraft was born March 18, 1934, in Waterbury, Connecticut. He was the son of Howard Russell and Marian (Northrup) Kraft. He married Carol Wallace (an elementary school teacher) on June 11, 1955, and they had four children. Kraft died on September 15, 2023, at the age of 89. [3]
