Wake County is located in the U.S. state of North Carolina. As of the 2020 census, its population was 1,129,410, [1] making it North Carolina's most populous county. The property tax rate that Wake County would need to set to maintain the same level of revenue, called revenue-neutral, would be 46.36 cents per $100 of assessed property value.
The county is governed by the Johnston County Board of Commissioners, a seven-member board of County Commissioners, elected to serve four-year terms. The commissioners enact policies such as establishment of the property tax rate, regulation of land use and zoning outside municipal jurisdictions, and adoption of the annual budget.
