Edexcel and Cambridge syllabus are used for most of the English-medium schools. Other syllabi are also used, although rarely.

The school was started as an English medium back in 1846. At present, it is a Bangla medium school and the medium of instruction is Bengali. Since 1991 the school has been running two shifts, Morning and Day. The Morning shift starts at 7:30 am and ends at 12:00 pm. The Day shift starts at 12:30 pm and ends at 5:30 pm.
