The University of Leeds is a public research university in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England.It was established in 1874 as the Yorkshire College of Science. In 1884 it merged with the Leeds School of Medicine (established 1831) and was renamed Yorkshire College.
Leeds Conservatoire was established in 1965 as the Leeds Music Centre, delivering extra-curricular music classes at the Leeds Institute building near Millennium Square, which now houses Leeds City Museum. Leeds University Business School is situated on the western campus of the University of Leeds, located 1 mile (1.6 km) north of Leeds city centre. The Marks & Spencer company archive is also housed here, containing over 60,000 artefacts and pieces moved there in 2009 from London to Leeds, the birthplace of the company.
