Bend, Oregon. / 44.050°N 121.300°W / 44.050; -121.300. Bend is a city in Central Oregon and the county seat of Deschutes County, Oregon, United States. It is located to the east of the Cascade Range, on the Deschutes River . The site became known by pioneers as a fordable crossing point of the river, where it was ran through a bend.
Description and history. The Pilot Butte Inn was built in 1917 on the banks of the Deschutes River in Bend, Oregon. The hotel building, described as a "rustic sportsman’s lodge", was designed by architect John E. Tourtellotte. It exhibited American Craftsman style architecture and made use of local materials like pine and river rock.
