The building, which was the headquarters of Kearsley Urban District Council, was demolished in 2013. History. Following significant population growth, largely associated with the number of cotton mills in the area, a local board of health was established in Kearsley in 1865. In 1894 the local board was replaced by Kearsley Urban District Council.
History. St Margaret's was built in 1911–13, and was designed by the Lancaster architects Austin and Paley. In 1939 the same architects added a vestry and offices to the church.
It lies on the Manchester-Preston Line miles (12.5 km) north of Manchester Victoria, though only local services run by Northern Trains stop here. The station was staffed until the early 1990s, however the arson attacking of the station building just below platform level saw an end to this arrangement.
