Mercer Island High School ( MIHS) is a public high school located in Mercer Island, Washington, United States, as part of the Mercer Island School District . Northwest Yeshiva High School/NYHS was founded in 1974 to incubate a Jewish environment for higher college preparatory learning in the region. The Bainbridge High School girls lacrosse team won the 2011 Washington State Division 1 lacrosse championship, beating Lakeside School 16-8. The Bainbridge High School boys soccer team won the 2012 Washington State 3A state playoffs, defeating Mercer Island 3-2. The Bainbridge High School girls Junior Varsity soccer team won the 2012 Metro League.

New Courtyard Entry. The school opened in 1902 and it was first called "West Seattle School." In 1917, the current building was opened and the school was renamed "West Seattle High School." The mascot was an Indian Chief, and the athletic teams were known as the Indians. A change in the nickname was considered several times beginning in 1974.
