Route description. SR 249 begins at the eastern gate of Fort Novosel southwest of Ozark in Dale County, heading northeast on four-lane undivided Andrews Avenue. The route runs along the border between Fort Novosel to the west and Ozark to the east, passing through wooded areas with some fields, homes, and businesses, intersecting CR 21 and CR 34.
State Route 123. State Route 123 ( SR 123) is a 45.750-mile (73.627 km) state highway that serves Geneva, Houston, and Dale counties as a connection between Hartford, Ozark, and Ariton. SR 123 intersects SR 167 and Geneva County Route 61 (CR 61) at its southern terminus, south of Hartford and US 231 at its northern terminus, west of Ariton.

Claybank Log Church is a historic church in Ozark, Alabama. The building is the second church on the site, replacing a similar structure built in 1829. The current building was constructed by a Methodist minister, although the church was also used for various community functions. It is believed to be the oldest extant building in Dale County.
The J. D. Holman House is a historic residence in Ozark, Alabama. One of the most elaborate Neoclassical homes in the Wiregrass Region, it was built in 1912–13 for Jesse DeCosta Holman, a prominent local merchant.
