Hillcrest Country Club, also known as Avalon Country Club, is a historic country club located in suburban Lawrence Township, Marion County, Indiana, northeast of Indianapolis, Indiana. The 18 hole golf course was designed by Bill Diddel and was built in 1924. The clubhouse was built in 1929–1930, and renovated in 2000.
History. The group was founded in 1913 as the "Neighborhood Circle" in what was then an agricultural area. They built their clubhouse in 1915 for $3,500 where they opened town's first public library, hosted local Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops, held musical theater events, and served as a polling place.
In March 2011, PennEnvironment and the Sierra Club won a favorable court ruling finding that the plant had committed 8,684 violations of the Clean Water Act by discharging wastewater directly into the Conemaugh River. On June 6, 2011 GenOn agreed to a $5 million settlement with $3.75 million going toward the restoration of the river.
