De La Salle Santiago Zobel's varsity team was first officially known as the "Golden Bengals," with its mascot being the Fighting Bengal. This identity was designed and proposed by Brother Raymond Bronowicz FSC, who was the first Brother-Director of the school at that time.
Zóbel de Ayala. The Zóbel de Ayala clan is a prominent Filipino family of Spanish and German descent who were the founders of Ayala y Compañía (now Ayala Corporation) and patrons of the Premio Zóbel literary awards. The clan is directly descended from Jacobo Zóbel y Zangroniz (1842–1896) and Trinidad de Ayala (1856–1918).
The De La Salle-Santiago Zóbel School located in Ayala Alabang Village (an Ayala real estate development) was named in memory of son, Jacobo Santiago "Santi" (1954–1965), who died of pneumonia at the age of 11. In 1990, he established the Enrique Zóbel Foundation, which focuses on social and economic development projects in Calatagan, Batangas.

The last musical to be performed outside of the campus was Teach the World, a play, which was based on the life and times of St. John Baptist De La Salle. In 2004, during the 25th-anniversary celebrations of De La Salle Zobel, the Orchestra once again provided music to Act 25, which was a revue of the past productions of the school.
