A political scandal in Ohio involving allegations that electric utility company FirstEnergy paid $60 million to a group controlled by Speaker of the House Larry Householder in exchange for passing a $1.3 billion bailout for nuclear power plants. The scandal led to the resignation, removal and conviction of Householder, as well as a fine and a name change for FirstEnergy.
FirstEnergy is a public company that provides electricity generation, transmission and distribution, and other energy services to 6 million customers in Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey, and New York. It was formed in 1997 by the merger of Ohio Edison and Centerior, and has been involved in a bribery scandal in Ohio.

Ohio Edison broke ground for W.H. Sammis in May 1956. The plan originally called for the construction of two, 170 MW units. [1] In September 1956, Ohio Edison announced they would double the facility with two additional units also at 170 MW each.
