During winter gas bill can be 3-7 times the usual amount. If you are hurting right now financially, they will give you a year to pay this bill. Also, they are not shutting off utilities at this time anyway for non-payment. You can use an electric heater but then your electric bill will quadruple.

SoCal raised everyones bill. Claimed it was due to a major jump in the Wholesale price of natural gas. Call and get on Level pay. My gas bill should have been 312.00 but because I am on level pay I only pay 77.00. At the end of the year I either get a credit or I settle whatever the difference is for the 11 months.

Sempra, the parent company for socalGas, has entered into large contracts with europe selling LNG thusly depleting regional US supply, increasing costs. They also instructed socal gas and sdge to not buy gas in advance for the winter, and buy it all on the spot in December at these crazy prices they engineered by depleting their own supply.

My SoCalGas bill for December was shockingly high. Can't wait for January. Time to turn the heat down to 60 at night and 65 during the day. My house is 100 years old with very little insulation possible. If I turn the heat off it gets down to 60 or below at night anyway. Sigh. UPDATE: Just looked and I now have my January bill.

I pay anywhere from $20-25 a month for gas as a single person in one bedroom with SoCalGas. For my 1br apartment it's usually around $4-6 per month. $15-$17 two bedroom. Try turning your hot water heater temperature down. Mine varies from about $20 - $60 a month depending on if I run my Gas in-wall heater often.

My last bill was right at $55 for a 2br 2ba (950sqft). It's been pretty consistently $55 for at least a few months.

A $130 bill will be more like $315, up 142%. The increases result from the soaring wholesale price of natural gas paid by SoCalGas and passed through to its customers. That price, set by national and regional markets, rose 2 1/2 times over December’s price, and is up more than 300% from January 2022, according to SoCalGas. Reply reply.
