Since 1982, De Hoop has been a regular visiting scientist at the Schlumberger-Doll Research Center, formerly located in Ridgefield, Connecticut and now in Cambridge, Massachusetts in the United States. Here, he contributes to research on geophysical applications of acoustic, electromagnetic, and elastodynamic waves.
From 1982 to 1983 Beylkin was an associate research scientist at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences. From 1983 to 1991 he was a member of the professional staff of Schlumberger-Doll Research in Ridgefield, Connecticut. Since 1991 he has been a professor in the Department of Applied Mathematics at the University of Colorado Boulder.
Saito studied at the University of Tokyo, receiving his BEng in 1982 and his MEng in 1984. He joined Nippon Schlumberger K.K. in 1984, and in 1986 moved to Schlumberger- Doll Research (SDR), Ridgefield, Connecticut, where he was a research scientist. He continued his studies, receiving his PhD in applied mathematics from Yale University in 1994.
