The National University of Malaysia (Malay: Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, abbreviated as UKM) is a public research university located in Bandar Baru Bangi, Hulu Langat District, Selangor, Malaysia. Its teaching hospital, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre (UKMMC), is located in Cheras and also has a branch campus in Kuala Lumpur.
The Asasipintar, UKM program was developed to bridge students from the PERMATApintar College to the university, in particular UKM. The program is also offered to SPM school leavers who scored well in the national examination. It is a fast-track one-year program aimed at preparing the students for campus learning.
History. Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz UKM has an interlinked history with the Faculty of Medicine, UKM. The faculty was formed on 30 May 1972. This faculty started the premedical course at the Faculty of Sciences, Main Campus of UKM at Jalan Pantai Baru, Kuala Lumpur in May 1973. The first batch numbering up to 44 students attended the course.
The UKM Medical Molecular Biology Institute (UMBI) was founded as one of the Centre of Excellence in UKM after the approval from the National University of Malaysia senate meeting.
