SRHS was the only public high school for Santa Rosa from 1874 to 1958. Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC), located on the adjacent property, was actually a part of Santa Rosa High School from 1918 to 1927. [4] The school had several locations. The previous location on Humboldt Street burned to the ground in 1921.
Three villages make up student housing. They are named after three of the Channel Islands: Santa Cruz, Anacapa, and Santa Rosa. Opened in the fall of 2007, Santa Cruz Village is home to sophomore students and students who have completed fewer than thirty units. Most suites are two-bedroom, housing six students with three in each bedroom.
Maria Carrillo High School (MCHS), a California Distinguished High School 2013, is one of five comprehensive high schools in the Santa Rosa City Schools district. Ursuline High School was established in 1880 at 10th and B Streets in downtown Santa Rosa by eight Ursuline sisters from Brown County, Ohio. At this time the school was called Ursuline College. A liberal arts college was chartered in 1901 by the sisters. Degrees continued to be offered until 1936.
