USAO is an undergraduate-only institution and grants bachelor's degrees in a variety of subject areas. The school was founded in 1908 as a school for women and from 1912 to 1965 was known as Oklahoma College for Women. It became coeducational in 1965 and today educates approximately 800 students.
The removal of sports led to increased transfers to outlying schools among the student body at that time. Granite High belonged to the Granite School District. The mascot was the Farmer. Popular AP U.S. History teacher, Dale Wood, often referred to the mascot as the "Fighting Agrarians." At the end of the 2009 school year, the school was closed.
Originally built in 1962, the Skyline High School is a 0.15 km² (0.06 mi²) medium-sized campus located at the mouth of Millcreek Canyon, just west of I-215. It includes soccer, softball, baseball, and football fields, as well as tennis courts. The school has 677 student parking stalls, and 28 faculty only parking stalls.
