South Lake High School is a high school in St. Clair Shores, Michigan in the Metro Detroit area, and serves grades 9-12. It is the only high school in the South Lake Schools district. History. South Lakes High School opened in 1978 with grades 7-10. Students in the first 10th-grade class had attended either Herndon or Oakton High Schools for grade 9. In the 1979-80 school year, the school had grades 7-11. [2] Langston Hughes Intermediate School was supposed to open in the fall of 1980, but there were construction delays.
