The Kuala Lumpur City Hall ( Malay: Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur, abbreviated DBKL) is the city council which administers the city of Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. This council was established after the city was officially granted city status on 1 February 1972. Their jurisdiction covers an area of 243 square kilometres.
In 1956, the chief minister and several ministers were appointed to lead the Federation of Malay Peninsula. In the same year, several ministries were formed including the Ministry of Works, which then was originally named the Ministry of Works, Post and Telecom. Sardon bin Haji Jubir was the first minister to lead this ministry.
Kuala Lumpur is the most populous city in Malaysia, with a population of 1.98 million in the city proper as of 2020. It has a population density of 8,157 inhabitants per square kilometre (21,130/sq mi), and is the most densely populated administrative district in Malaysia. [2]
There are multiple modes of public transport, including buses, rail, taxis, and motor-taxis, [1] serving the region. However Kuala Lumpur, with a population of 1.79 million in the city [2] and six million in its metropolitan area, [3] is experiencing the effects and challenges of rapid urbanisation and urban planning issues.

Central Market Kuala Lumpur is located at Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock (Foch Avenue) and the pedestrian-only section of Jalan Hang Kasturi (Rodger Street), a few minutes away from Petaling Street and next to Klang River.
