Surf Life Saving Australia ( SLSA) is an Australian not-for-profit community organisation that promotes water safety and provides surf rescue services. SLSA strives to create a safe environment on Australia's beaches and coastline through patrols, education and training, public safety campaigns and the promotion of health and fitness.
The first Australian Surf Life Saving Championships were held at Bondi Beach, New South Wales in March 1915. The first Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) Masters Championships took place in 1987. It has since become an annual event, providing a platform for experienced surf life savers to showcase their skills and compete at a high level.

The Forrest Beach Surf Life Saving Club was established in 1927 but closed in 1956. The Hinchinbrook Shire Council initiated a meeting which caused the club to reopen in 1958-9. Allingham Post Office opened on 1 March 1967. Forrest Beach State School opened on 29 January 1980. Forrest Beach War Memorial was dedicated in 2006.
