Caddo Parish, Louisiana. Caddo Parish (French: Paroisse de Caddo) (/ ˈkædoʊ /) is a parish located in the northwestern corner of the U.S. state of Louisiana. According to the 2020 U.S. census, the parish had a population of 237,848. [1] The parish seat and largest city is Shreveport, which developed along the Red River.

The Belcher Mound Site (16CD13) is an archaeological site in Caddo Parish, Louisiana. [ 1] It is located in the Red River Valley 20 miles north of Shreveport [ 2] and about one-half mile east of the town of Belcher, Louisiana. [ 3] It was excavated by Clarence H. Webb from 1959 to 1969. [ 3]

Shreve Town was originally contained within the boundaries of a section of land sold to the company by the indigenous Caddo Indians in the year of 1835, during the period of Indian Removal. Louisiana Highway 1 passes through the village, leading south 7 miles (11 km) to Vivian and northwest 15 miles (24 km) to Atlanta, Texas (as Texas State Highway 77).
