www .ncat .edu. North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (also known as North Carolina A&T State University, North Carolina A&T, N.C. A&T, or simply A&T) [8] is a public, historically black, land-grant research university in Greensboro, North Carolina. It is a constituent institution of the University of North Carolina System.
Over the 100 plus years of the university's existence, the academic scope expanded to encompass other disciplines. The North Carolina General Assembly redefined N.C. A&T as a regional university and through legislation made it a member of the University of North Carolina System in 1971. As of 2014, North Carolina A&T has about 40,000 living alumni.
John Oliver Crosby was elected as the first president of the "Agricultural and Mechanical College for the Colored Race" on May 25, 1892. [2] The twelfth, and current, Chancellor of North Carolina A&T is Dr. Harold L. Martin Sr. Elected May 22, 2009, Martin is the first alumnus of the university to hold the position. [2] [4]
