The Singapore Teachers' Union ( STU) is the largest teachers' organisation in Singapore. [1] It is an affiliate of the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC), a member of the ASEAN Council of Teachers and the Education International. The STU was founded in 1946 and represents over 14,000 teachers employed by the Ministry of Education.
The group was founded 15 June 1964 by the "Joint Declaration of the Seventy-Seven Countries" issued at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (or the UNCTAD). The group held its first major meeting in Algiers in 1967, where it adopted the Charter of Algiers and established the basis for permanent institutional structures.
The Chartered College of Teaching is a learned society for the teaching profession in the United Kingdom.
