History. Stouffville District Secondary School officially opened in 1954. It had additions built onto the original school four times in the 1960s because its capacity was not able to maintain the pace of the population growth in the Stouffville area. The school opened its new location at Hoover Park Drive and Weldon Road in September 2007.
The other two school boards, MonAvenir and YCDSB, operate as public separate school boards, the former operating French first language separate schools, the latter operating English first language separate schools. YRDSB is the largest public school board in the region, operating 175 elementary schools, and 33 secondary schools.
