On more than one occasion, he mentioned that Dai Vernon and Larry Grey had a studio in Manhattan where they would cut silhouettes for walk-ins. As you might guess, the studio became a hangout for magicians, so much so that Vernon would work in a back room and have staff up front come get him if a magician came in who was worth talking to.

You have to put them on a photo-hosting site, like Imgur or postimage.org, and embed a "share" link here. Magician cutters include Dai Vernon, Bob White, David Alexander, Larry Gray, Paul Fox ...

There is an interesting old thread in this forum on Vernon's silhouette cutting, with insightful contributions from Mr Alexander, who had an extensive collection of silhouettes and was planning a book on the subject. According to Magicpedia, he passed away before the book was completed.

The Swann Sherman silhouette of Houdini sold a couple of years ago bringing in $8,000 plus buyer's premium. The duplicate that I had handled sold a year later for, oddly enough, the same amount. The third copy is in the hands of a museum. Vernon did have some celebrity silhouettes that were signed by the subjects.
