The Rowan-Salisbury School System (also called Rowan-Salisbury Schools or for short RSS) is a PK–12 graded school district in North Carolina covering nearly all of Rowan County including the city of Salisbury. The second largest employer in the county, the system's 35 schools serve 20,000 students as of 2013–2014.
The school is a part of the Cabarrus County Schools system. While the school has a Concord mailing address, it is physically located in the city limits of neighboring Kannapolis. [2] It opened in 1966, merging the former high schools in the Odell and Winecoff communities.

[6] In terms of population, the city of Concord is the second-most populous city in the Charlotte metropolitan area and is the 10th-most populous city in North Carolina and 287th-most populous city in the U.S. [11] The city was a winner of the All-America City Award in 2004.
First freshman class at North Carolina College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts in 1889. The North Carolina General Assembly founded NC State on March 7, 1887, as a land-grant college under the name "North Carolina College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts," or "North Carolina A&M" for short. [13]
Cannon School was founded in 1969 as Cabarrus Academy. The school was located in the historic downtown Concord residence of local textile entrepreneur J.W. Cannon. The school initially served students in grades 1-10. Upon opening, the school had 75 all white students, but neither a cafeteria nor a gymnasium. Tuition was $750.
On October 23, 2019, the team unveiled its new identity as the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers. Team leadership looked for a name that reflected both the city's heritage and its association with auto racing. "Cannons" was among the most popular suggestions, which was refined into "Cannon Ballers" for a broader appeal.
