William Milliken. William Grawn Milliken (March 26, 1922 – October 18, 2019) was an American businessman and politician who served as the 44th governor of Michigan. A member of the Republican Party, he is the longest-serving governor in Michigan history, serving one partial term and three full four-year terms from 1969 to 1983.
After a few months abroad, he returned to the United States and stayed at Battle Creek Sanitarium in Battle Creek, Michigan, for a time before finally returning to Chicago in December 1899. McGavick subsequently submitted his resignation as bishop to the Vatican in 1900, but it was not accepted.
