[3] [4] As of 2022, it is both the world's largest offshore drilling company and the world's largest offshore drilling contractor by revenue.
Schlumberger first got a foothold in the company in 1959 and then assumed total control in 1964, and renamed it Forex Neptune Drilling Company. In 2000, Transocean acquired R&B Falcon Corporation, owner of 115 drilling rigs, in a deal valued at $17.7 billion.
