The Red Lion Area School District is a large, suburban/rural, public school district located in southeastern York County, Pennsylvania, that serves the boroughs of Felton, Red Lion, Windsor, and Winterstown; and the townships of Chanceford Township, Lower Chanceford Township, North Hopewell Township, and Windsor Township.
On March 19, 2009, the Red Lion Area School Board voted 8–0 to close 2 elementary schools in the district. Chanceford and Edgar Moore elementary schools closed at the end of the 2009 school year. The students from the schools were placed in other schools throughout the district including a brand new elementary school.
The school district has a population of 20,023, according to a 2005 local census. By 2010, the district's population had increased to 21,108 people. [1] The educational attainment levels for the Northern York County School District population (25 years old and over) were 91.9% high school graduates and 29.8% college graduates. [2]
