A member of the Republican Party, he previously represented the 7th district from 2007 to 2009 and from 2011 to 2023.
Michigan's 7th congressional district is a United States congressional district in Southern Michigan and portions of Central Michigan. From 2004 to 2013 it consisted of all of Branch , Eaton , Hillsdale , Jackson , and Lenawee counties, and included most of Calhoun and a large portion of western and northern Washtenaw counties.
