The USF College of Nursing was founded in 1973, [2] enrolling its charter class into the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. The college added a Master of Science in Nursing program in 1980, a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program in 1997, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program in 2005. [2]
In connection with these changes, the college adopted its current name, Galen College of Nursing. HCA Healthcare purchased a majority stake in the organization in 2020. The school now offers an additional online Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) programs for RNs who wish to further their education.
