The Widener University School of Law in Harrisburg was founded in 1989, as an expansion of Widener University's existing law school in Wilmington, Delaware. Anthony J. Santoro, who served as Dean of law from 1983 to 1992, felt that there was a need for legal education in Harrisburg, the capital city of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. [6]
It is one of two separate ABA -accredited law schools of Widener University. Widener University Law School was founded in 1971 as the Delaware Law School and became affiliated with Widener in 1975. In 1989, it was known as Widener University School of Law when it was combined with the campus in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

The Chemistry Building is adjacent to Old Main and is a three-story building that measures 37 feet by 51 feet. It is connected to Old Main by a wrought iron and plank-board walk-way extending from the second floor of each structure. It was built in order to separate dangerous laboratory conditions from the dormitory area of the Old Main building.
