The eastern massasauga ( Sistrurus catenatus) is a rattlesnake species found in central and eastern North America from southern Ontario in Canada and throughout the Midwestern and Eastern United States. Like all rattlesnakes, it is a pit viper and is venomous; it is the only species of venomous snake in Ontario.
Education. The two-storey, four-room Lorne Park Public School opened in 1923, with 76 students enrolled. Throughout the 1930s the school was a centre of community activity, hosting concerts, Christmas festivities, dinners and village events. The original school was destroyed by fire on January 22, 1982 and was rebuilt.
